As newly elected Chair of the Asphalt Institute Foundation, I will be supporting a team of industry leading professionals in the asphalt industry, helping them to identify, create, prioritize, and enact strategies to continually improve our industries longevity and to allow for sustainable success.

The Asphalt Institute Foundation’s mission is to conduct strategic research and educational activities that are designed to advance and improve both the liquid asphalt industry and the welfare of the general public. The Asphalt Institute Foundation operates as a public charity that meets the requirements of Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) as a not-for-profit organization and utilizes donations and performs fundraising activities that allow for asphalt educational/training opportunities, student scholarship funding, internship programs and other strategic industry research support.

Successful examples include but are not limited to the AiF internship program, the Bill and Shireen Kirk Scholarship Fund, the Asphalt Technology Module offered to engineering schools, the Fehsenfeld Catalyst for Change Initiative, the Strategic Asphalt Research Symposiums, and the Ergon Research Initiative Council.

The most recent releases of information are the research reports on the asphalt binder supply chain (https://youtu.be/vYYI2fV8v-M , Analyzing-the-Petroleum-Asphalt-Binder-Supply-Chain-under-Energy-Transition-Scenarios_AIF-Wood-Mackenzie.pdf) and understanding the durability of asphalt shingles (https://www.asphaltfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/AIF-Report-Durability-of-Asphalt-Shingles.pdf).
